Justin Wolfers jumps into Tweeting and later ask the question on whether he hfsd become a better economist as a result (he doesn't know just yet). Some early observations include finding the experience fun and addictive, "all about the links" you share, and that Google+ "really is a better technology for everything Twitter does".

The oh-so-noble journalists are at it again, this time, with Duterte’s Hitler comment. I am no Duterte fanatic. I criticize him more scathingly than anyone when his mouth is out of line. But this time, Duterte really didn’t say anything wrong. The real culprits behind the fuss over his Hitler comment are Karen Lema and Manuel Mogato, two Filipino reporters of the Reuters news agency, who wrote this article: “ Philippines’ Duterte likens himself to Hitler, wants to kill millions of drug addicts ”. Lema and Mogato are Filipinos. There’s no way they could have misunderstood what Duterte really meant in his speech. I watched the video and this is what the President said: “Hitler massacred 3 million Jews. There are 3 million drug addicts. I’d be happy to slaughter them. At least, if Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have ….. my victims, all criminals, to finish a problem of my country, and save the next generation.” (See for yourself here . Not since Marcos have we as a people been so polarized. As far as our hearts and minds are concerned it's like we're in the edge of a civil war. We are forced to take a hard look at ourselves and what we value. Because of this, we are fighting friends in coffee houses, on the telephone, and on Facebook. We are a people whose lives have been upended. We don't know what to do to get things done right and right away. We lash out. BREAKING NEWS! Bongbong Marcos NOT conceding! Fight vs fraud is on!

Contrary to the way Big Yellow Media and International Media have portrayed events of recent days, the reality is BBM is NOT CONCEDING.  I have learned just now in good authority that this is so.  The focus right now is on gathering and documenting evidence and testimonies of electoral fraud.  Much has already been gathered and more are coming.  Please continue to be extra vigilant and engaged as these days are ultra critical while there is not yet a VP proclamation. I also want to take issue with all the news stories that say Senator BBM has lost the election.  This is not objectively true.  If a proper recount is done taking into consideration all issues and instances of fraud, Marcos Jr. is by all accounts and as reported by all third party exit polls, the TRUE WINNER.  These stories on mainstream media are just way too premature and profoundly wrong.  Please do not believe them.  Stay tuned here to know what is really going on in this developing story. Over 100M-peso cost of #DongYanWedding shouldered by GMA Network as publicity investment!

I was correct with my gut feelings. My friendly butiki, who listens to everything inside the executive offices of GMA7, confirmed that it was the network that paid for everything (repeat, everything) in the so called 'royal wedding'. It was over Php100m on the wedding day alone, not including other expenses in the pre-nuptial activities. This is an eye-popping amount if it is just a wedding expense (as I am one of those who think that a 20m wedding is already stupid and insensitive in a Third World setting, even if one could afford a 500m one). Over 100m, however, is a justifiable amount, even cheap vis-a-vis the ROI, if it is accounted as marketing and advertising expense of a large corporation that regularly spends much more anyway in their ads and promos.
