The #Philippines: Weak #Christian morals turned it into a failed state!

Image
God save the Philippines indeed; but he can't as long as they reject him. It sickens me how Filipinos proclaim themselves the only Christian country in Asia. Despite spending two years there, I've yet to meet more than a half-dozen people there with good Christian morals, nevermind someone who has genuine Christian faith (I've met maybe two or three of them). Exactly how do you fix a failed state that worships the Lord of the Flies? Is it even possible? In theory you can shoot a few criminals. But what do you do when 95% of the population take 'Shaft thy neighbour' as their Golden Rule? Evil is always bigger than your ammo supply. I think the case of Rwanda is quite instructive. That country has an awful lot in common, culturally, with the Philippines (including – supposedly – a 'Christan' majority). Paul Kagame is an asshole. He doesn't appear to have organised any death squads, but he does seem to be the zero-tolerance type. He is, by most accoun

#Justice is nonexistent in the #Philippines because Filipinos don't understand Rule of Law

Image
The Philippines is simply not a civilised society. The justice system is not just slow: it does not exist. Filipinos in general just don't grasp the concept of a society ruled by law. Like almost every institution in the country, they've copied the superficial appearance of a legal system but completely failed to understand how and why it works (or should work). They interact with each other on the basis of threats and intimidation, exactly as they have for centuries. They support Duterte because they understand him. Unfortunately, you can't actually solve problems by killing people, whatever the movies might say. Davao is still full of Filipinos who commit minor, everyday crimes against each other that don't merit attention from Duterte. I suspect what the Philippines needs is some missionaries to cast out their demons. There is no natural solution for their moral failures. --------------- This is a GRP Featured Comment. Rodrigo #Duterte's amazing transformation of #Davao - from Killing Capital to one of world's safest cities

Image
"Elected officials must serve the greater good no matter what it takes, like a father protecting and disciplining his family". (Provincial Governor in Davao from 1959 to 1965, Vicente Duterte). A small and harmless sparrow, The Red Maya, was up to 1995 the national symbol of the Philippines. But the popular president at that time, Fidel V Ramos, felt he needed a stronger symbol in his attempt to raise national self esteem. He was a liberal democrat who included Muslims in his successful projects for economic growth and social justice. He wanted to reintroduce the death penalty against hard resistance, and took a very confrontational action towards the Chinese leaders in the territorial dispute that still goes on. He needed something stronger than a sparrow and chose a predator, the monkey eating eagle of Mindanao, as the new national symbol. When this happened (1995), Rodrigo Duterte was in the middle of his second period as Mayor of Davao City. He was a son of a former

Foreign men appreciate #Filipino women more!

Image
Foreigners marrying Filipinas means they find them interesting. Marriage isn't a joke. And are westerners a fool to spend their life and precious time with someone who'll only make their lives miserable or they will be ashamed of? No, definitely not. They find Filipinas interesting, they find in them fine characteristics they are looking for. I know someone whose Aussie husband help her develop into confident and successful woman. Kapwa Filipinos are the ones who say Filipinas are like katulong next to their foreign partner but I'm sure their partner know their worth; it's what lies inside that count. What's shameful is how their kapwa Filipino like this pig Meloto sees them. Instead of helping Filipinas uplift their lives so they won't recourse on marrying for the sake of getting out of poverty, binubugaw nila. ------------------ This is a GRP Featured Comment. Senator Bongbong Marcos slams #OPAPP for poor work on #BBL stakeholder management

Image
"We are doing your work for you. This is something you should have done during the process of negotiations so that when you presented the BBL to Congress then that version of the BBL incorporated into it all of the views, opinions, suggestions from all of the stakeholders." - Senator Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr scolding the Office of the Presidential Assistant on the Peace Process (OPAPP) for shoddy work on the negotiations with stakeholders leading to the drafting of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) being reviewed by Philippine Congress. Perverted governance in the #Philippines behind its decrepit #infrastructure

Image
Manila' s public transport system is embarrassing from any angle you look at it. It is reflective of national and local leaders who are perverts. Yes, perverts, because every govt project is decided on the basis of how much tongpats they can milk out of it. And they need tongpats for two reasons: (a) to fund their political war chest so they could persists in their various positions, elected or appointed, and (b) in 80% of cases, to maintain their amorous, more likely gold-digging, "mistresses", or "toy boys", they have in their not so secretive lives. So, the end objective, the driving force really, is about fucking somebody in bed, the kitchen top, or what have you. Thus, more often than not, the govt end up with projects that are fucked. What else can you expect? You are looking at low lives in London tailored suits and exclusive designer's barongs running around town in Mercs and Bimmers and the like, and I do not understand why they could even show

Philippines' 2016-2022 president to suffer foundation of negligence laid by #PNoy administration

Image
If I were a presidentiable, or anyone thinking of some available national position in 2016, I would think a thousand times about running, or if I run, which party would I side. Several big chickens are now coming home to roost. Depending on the timing and the intensity of the "roosting", 2016 will be a year like no other. If they come home simultaneously, the impact will be beyond any of the projections and prognosis we are seeing today. We have names for these chickens. Let us start with West Valley Fault and El Niño. If a 7.2 earthquake strikes Luzon near, or during, the campaign period, then anyone being endorsed by the Liberal Party will be dead in the water, or dead beyond recognition as those who died in the slipper factory in Valenzuela — because as usual PNoy's govt will fuck up again as they fucked Yolanda. Thus, they have to be careful what they pray for — it is noteworthy that they would make WVF a headline competing with the news that the ad hoc committee

No Ability = Winnability

Grace Poe does not even try to hide the fact that the  FPJ name is her biggest asset.  She can't even accredit her potential to lead and govern to genes.   If this was a proper court of law and Grace was accused of being serious about being a viable candidate the case would be thrown out for lack of evidence. What she is really saying (and as Johnny Saint said makes her identical to Nancy Binay) is I have never done anything worth talking about. Nothing. BTW this is my adopted dad. That should solve everything. I wonder where her campaigners got that idea? Let's see, no record of accomplishment, famous parent (s) , running for office ohhh a certain follicle challenged, relationship challenged, tact challenged person comes to mind. It just so happens the same person really has no history of answering challenges. See full article on this here: http://getrealphilippines.com/blog/2013/03/no-ability-winnability/

Congress, the ‘biggest criminal syndicate in the Philippines’, approves terrorist #Bangsamoro Basic Law!

Image
So effective was the Malacanang locomotive pork barelling its way through Congress that House Representatives seemingly cowering in fear (or salivating over the millions they stand to gain) admitted that they cast their votes despite being not allowed to read the actual contents of the complaint… See the full article here: http://getrealphilippines.com/blog/2015/05/congress-biggest-criminal-syndicate-in-the-philippines-approves-bangsamoro-basic-law/

Crooked traditional #Filipino politicians are products of the #Philippines' culture of mendicancy

Image
In the case of Mary Jane Veloso, nobody should take credit in the first place. You do what you got to do. If it's your job, you do it because it's your job. If you care, you do it because you care. That's just that. Bakit kailangan magbuhat ng sariling bangko? Will it prove MJ Veloso's innocence and free her from death row or jail? People who are dependent on their government, sorry, but they won't go anywhere. They are simply puppets, same as with the people who are crazy with what the media is showing them. My mom has this to say about Pinoys in general who has nothing but grievances, "Hetong mga taong 'to wala ng ginawa kundi sisihin ang gobyerno. Kagagawan ba ng gobyerno lahat ng misfortunes nila? Why won't they work hard to get out from their poor state? The government has no control with what they want to do with their life." Her point being there a lot of ways to improve one's life or family and the government is not the major contri

#Filipinos want change without having to work for it

Image
There is a reason why Filipinos always opt for the ever popular Cinderella story. They want someone or something to come swoop down and change everything for the better for them. But they conveniently forget that original story of Cinderella had to do something to make her dreams come through. Shame that this version is always ignored in favor of the Disneyfied popular version. Needless to say, Filipinos need to learn that the one who controls the story is themselves. -------------- This is a GRP Featured Comment. Freedom is something each of us can have IN us

Image
It starts with knowledge, and the route to knowledge is called learning. Not data or information the rote Filipino education teaches. After knowledge comes its application – know-how. Then comes actual application – doing. With doing comes true mastery. With mastery of at least one thing comes the confidence that is the foundation of freedom within oneself against all outside vagaries. It is a long road and a constant process. Asian martial arts and meditation masters know that, which a reason for the confidence and success of Northeast Asian cultures over Southeast Asian ones. Or the success of the German culture as opposed to Latin Europe. The ancient guild system emphasizes mastery in whatever one chooses to do. Mistakes there are lessons learned on the way to mastery. --------------- This is a GRP Featured Comment. Lack of an openness to discussing the deep confronting issues hinders #Philippines' self help

Image
One precondition for seeking help is finding ways to be open and honest with oneself – something many of us Filipinos do NOT have. Nietzsche wrote that getting to know oneself can be the road to hell and that is very true. What forms of help can be appropriate depends on the person and situation – modern methods like behaviourism seem more promising than psychoanalysis, which often does not help and some doctors do foster dependency to earn… Germany had its postwar group therapy with a lot of Zeitzeugen = witnesses of the times – speaking up one by one. It did help finally, the openness about the Irrweg = wrong path the nation of poets and thinkers went led to a new nation that is more open than the USA. A lot of hangups the Philippines has now can be traced to a lack of true openness about the issues of the past years, that stuff is still there in the back of peoples heads and causes irrational reactions by many people. Well maybe it's just me and my delusions.  ------
