Duterte BPI bank scandal a trap set for Trillanes?

Image
There are now papers floating around that the BPI account in Julia Vargas has a running balance of around Php22,000xx from March 2015 to March 2016. It's peanuts, and Trillanes makes a big fuzz about it? Sonamagan, even call center agents would have this kind of bank accounts; definitely does not show a corrupt DU30. And then, Trillanes talks of 42 real estate properties, but mostly owned by the children of DU30. Yet, the first one that media checks is a unit in P Guevarra, which is only valued at 2.3 million. Even ordinary employees could buy such unit. That could hardly buy just the main door, an imported antique, in the house of Binay, which has been valued at 15 million, yes just the freaking door by itself. What is this, they are again using trial by publicity, which they effectively used on CJ Corona whom they accused him of having 80 properties. In the end, it comes out Corona had only four properties, three of which was purchased for investment purposes only. I don'

Rather than discern bad ideas and good ideas Filipinos latch on wholesale to personalities

The same way Filipinos threw away the baby (intellectualism/discipline) with the bath water (crony capitalism/martial law) when they rejected FM and everything associated with him, they are now throwing away decency in conduct/language with incompetence by their puking out the Yellow camp and everything they stand for. The myopic nature of the Filipino's ability to decipher the good from the bad by viewing an entity as either ALL good or ALL bad rather than as a gray scale of virtues, qualities, strengths/weaknesses reeks of how simplistic his mental capacity is. We as "analysts" here should also learn to praise those we do not support for what they do right, and call out those we support for any of their shortcomings. During the last debate, Duterte gave a complement to opponent Mar when he said he will just copy/adopt a certain plan Mar had in his platform since it was good. Cory on the other hand rejected nuclear power just because Marcos built it – which is to

Martial Law crybabies revise history of failed recovery of alleged "billions" Marcos stole

Image
There are GLOBAL FREEZE orders on all assets of the Marcoses acquired prior to 1986 not only coming from the PHL and that international Anti-Money Laundering body based in Paris, but also by the US, as they have done on the Shah of Iran, etc etc, or are you ignorant about this?. And those orders have NOT been lifted; so, how can the Marcoses be in control of so called wealth? But, you seem to know some billions the Marcoses are hiding in their garage, this or that warehouse, this or that bank, but you don't want to spell them out; WHY IS THAT??? Cory and Jovy Salonga hired some of the best bounty hunters in the world with the suspicion that FM hid his bank accounts under fictitious names, but PCGG has not been open how much these experts recovered and what was the ROI of these projects. WHY IS THAT??? The PCGG have been hiring many legal experts, and they come and go. Some time in the 90s, there were news coming out that some of these legal minds have suddenly had the financial

Meet Rody Duterte in person to see he is a leader who could deal with China and the US

Image
I sat in front of him across his desk in his office, and I can tell you first hand, he is not the monster, the sociopath that the internet is now portraying him. And when you see his employees who respect him like a big brother or father, how can he be a psycho? And the way he welcome us as he did, I can't complain. He was nice and polite. And in that occasion when we sat for a couple of hours in the hotel coffee shop, I already knew he was a funny man. For that matter, I have also met Mar because he was a resource speaker in a two day seminar I attended once in AIM. I have met Binay thrice, in a wedding, in a cocktail, and right in his office when he was a Mayor. Unfortunately, I haven't met Poe in person, and twice, I believe, I have seen MDS, but only from a distance. Of course, there is no way one could judge the characters of persons with such brief encounters, but I think I have a basis to say that all of them, without exception, are nice, normal people with good inte

Small efforts to improve personal decency at grassroots can build a better Philippines

Image
As a Filipino, I had to fight and resist the urge to gape, gawk.. even pry into events that do not involve me in any way. For the most part, I seem, now, to be winning this game. I also strived to overhaul my sense of propriety.. in conduct, conversation and sense of humor.. and tried to be more reserved and respectful of others' privacy. In this, the effort is still a struggle. I tend to think that this effort is not so much to be just like a refined European, Asian or American, (Central and South Americans included), but rather, to be somewhat more thoughtful and civilized myself. I also tend to think that this is not a bad thing to aspire to. Would it be presumptious to think that we all should learn how to be more reserved and just keep off of others' space? Would a crowd, so disposed, have laughed at Mr. Duterte's sick jokes.. or, would Mr. Duterte himself have attempted such a cheap trick if he were similarly disposed? Filipinos of a bygone era, for the most part,

Humble achievement cannot sustain puffed-up Pinoy Pride

Image
The average IQ in Singapore is 108. The average in Philippines is 86. IQ is approximately 60% genetics. A child with excellent potential going through the Singapore educational system becomes a genius. One going through the Philippine educational system languishes. Our motto is Pinoy Humility, not Pinoy Pride. With humility comes self-awareness and the realization that you have to work harder than everyone else to get to the top instead of feeling entitled as a birthright. If you are motivated parents, your children will be reading at age 2 and doing algebra by age 6. Singapore has no monopoly on hard work. The very last people on earth to model yourself after is fellow Pinoys puffed up with pride and testing 42nd out of 45 countries on international tests. You can be YEARS ahead of Singapore students before they learn the first letter of the alphabet. All you have to do is put your pride down, substitute hard work in its place, and not expect anyone but yourself to be responsible

Feminism is synonymous with HYPOCRISY

Image
Dude. Feminism is politics – where have you been? Modern feminism of today has a political agenda. Feminists also embrace political correctness and, most especially, feminism is synonymous with hypocrisy. Feminists tells us that when a womam says she is raped you should always believe her even in the presence of the benefit if the doubt because, according to them, a man falsely accused rape does not suffer much – that is the typical feminist logic – although I must distinguish that radical feminists are a different breed. Some feminists are reasonable and logical so, for the sake of technicality, I will refer to them as radfems – totally separate from the rational feminists. Did you know the Sen. Pia Cayetano refused to have a shelter for men who are victims of domestic violence citing that there is not enough studies that men are victims of domestic violence? What is she trying to convey with her statement – that women are not capable of physically and emotionally abusing men? I

Duterte is the 'lesser evil' among a lineup of awful presidential candidates

Image
Duterte is an awful candidate… Unfortunately the rest are worse – not including Miriam because she's not in the equation anymore. The biggest joke here is that we have to choose from 4 awful candidates. Duterte still has immense support simply because he's the lesser evil. Binay is corrupt – legally unproven, but he's not really doing a good job making people think otherwise. Roxas is an awfully incompetent "leader", a fake, and worst of all, a Yellow oligarch. And Grace is most probably just a puppet. The insensitive rape joke aside, I can imagine that out of all of them, Duterte would be the ONLY ONE who would deal with the 1989 situation with such fire, dedication, and good leadership (assuming that the stories about Duterte's heroism are all true). Duterte is the only candidate that people (or at least his supporters) expect to be open and honest about his governance. Still, someone needs to teach this guy how to act civil. ------------- This is a

Duterte wouldn't be Duterte if he pandered to the 'civil' tastes of the Filipino country club set

Image
His "rape comment" may have been made in bad taste, but in the Philippines, its politicians' outward image tends to be the very opposite of his/her actual productivity. A "goody-goody" image doesn't translate into real improvement & security in the Philippines. Look how much bloodshed has been left in the wake of "saint" Cory's & Noynoy's terms, due to incompetence & neglect, and especially too much priority given to image-building, vindictiveness towards (yet grabbing credits from) their political enemies? Look how, the proverbial "coñio" boy, Mar tries so hard to look like the masses, yet fails miserably–Awkward & internally directionless, he believes the answer to his life's purpose lies within his family name (also, bad political move having Korina for a wife–best for Korina to stay out of the picture and lay low). And then there is Binay, who pretends to care for the masses only to benefit from them

The curious case of disciplined overseas Filipinos

Image
I am just curious though… Why are most Filipinos following rules abroad a lot more than they do in the Philippines? Do they automatically decide to change once they step foot in another country? Or is it because rules and laws abroad are implemented accordingly? I know for sure there are a lot of A–h0—s abroad but the law doesn't put up with anyone's BS. It probably wouldn't help if someone blurts out — "Do you know who I am?" when caught in a traffic violation. And I'm pretty sure some people have tried to do so. I believe Reese Witherspoon did it once and well, she was handcuffed. In a personal crisis, sure, you have to be the change you want to see. If you are not happy with your job, change it. If you are in an unhealthy relationship, leave it. If you are failing school, make extra effort to study and do better. But when you step out of your home and unto the city streets…you deserve a peaceful walk or drive to work. You want to be able to trust that t

Former Rodrigo Duterte supporter explains why he changed his mind after 'rape joke' video

Image
I planned to vote for him before because of his no-nonsense approach and actions against crime and criminals in general, so he's the last person I'd expect to make a joke about thinking of committing a crime as barbaric and heinous as rape especially given the fact that he had long years of first hand experience seeing dead bodies of victims of such an act… I've seen the whole video of that speech and listened to the backstory. He had himself get taken hostage at knifepoint risking his life and limb, and he himself lead the offensive using his own Uzi firearm to eliminate the bad guys. Yes, I acknowledge that these are indeed heroic acts on his part worthy of recognition, but I still struggle to find a good explanation for that rape joke. So I've watched the full video of his apology. He told the whole story again and said a lot of things but I didn't get the answer I was hoping for. What he said was he wasn't making a joke, and it was just gutter language utt

Is the Salim Group influencing Ph elections via the Bilang Pilipino Mobile Survey?

Image
That mobile survey that David Yap already warned us about in an article is now saying Leni is leading in their survey. Well, I will add something to what David already said about that doubtful survey. Don't forget that CH.5 is "owned" by Manny Pangilinan (MVP), which means it is really owned by the Salim Group of Indonesia. MVP is just an employee of Salim, although MVP is one of top 10 highest paid executives in Asia. PLDT is in effect owned by Salim, but this is covered by layers and layers of holding companies. Now, let me ask which companies are the worst when it comes to employee compensation of rank and file? You guess right, companies "owned" by MVP. Now ask yourself who among the candidates will question the ownership structure of PLDT, a telco that has choked the internet speed, and the candidate who will question the way they pay their employees? MVP will make sure that candidate will not win. ---------------- This is a GRP Featured Comment

Leni Robredo in the company of thieves. What does THAT make her??

Image
The Liberal Party has become so disgusting. Imagine the biggest applause during the gathering of their leaders in Club Filipino this week was reserved for Butch Abad. It was not even for Mar, Leni, or PNoy. Sonamagan, it was for Abad? Of course, it is for Abad because he does not call PDAF, DAP and Malampaya as such anymore. Abad now talks of BuB. He is their genius when it comes to the manipulation of discretionary funds, which by the way is at 800B to oneT now, right in the face of SC and the nation. Oh, I forgot, we don't have a Supreme Court; what we have is a Sereno Court. The only thing supreme about SC now is that it looks like an instant noodle, as in Lucky Me, Supreme noodle. So, as in the Corona impeachment when each legislators/judges got their DAP, so their LGU leaders are now expecting their BuB if it has not yet been distributed to them. No wonder a few in their ranks who are still principled wanted to vomit; their loyalty is now outside of LP. But, the Club Filip
