Lack of patriotism is at the core of #Filipinos' lack of respect for one another

Being half-Japanese, I agree that to a certain extent, we Filipinos have much to learn from the Japanese. The only observation I can make, though, is that this article failed to focus on what ails this country. The root cause of the Filipino Problem is not discipline, not the happy-go-lucky attitude, it's the lack of patriotism. Everything flows from there. If you love your country, you'll respect your neighbors, your community, your environment, everything else around you. Sadly, Filipinos don't have this patriotic attitude, unlike Korea, Japan, and to a certain extent, the US. We are not proud to be Filipino. We may say it, but we don't show it. It's as simple as that.
