Mocha Uson a better role model for women than her "decent" critics

Mocha Uson has struck a chord with the people. She did not grow up sheltered like some of these decent people. In 2002, she lost her father, a judge to an [politically motivated?] ambush killing. She was probably 20 at the time. She has had to make a living and a name for herself as best she could. Any resentment she feels, she has kept to herself, she does not bring up the murder every now and then as though she should be given sympathy (not like some personalities who like to bring up the necro card).

So she became a sexy dancer? So what? Apparently, she was able to turn her life around and find a more honorable calling. She may not have had the education some people have, but people change, people learn, and education is a process that does not end once one leaves university. Any lack of education, she makes up for in social media savvy and the ability to engage her followers as well as her detractors.

With the shit she has probably been through, the shrill attacks of the decent won’t faze her. Dare I say that she is even a better role model for women then some of her decent critics. She has been able to turn her life around, make a complete makeover for herself. Women who have found themselves resorting to prostitution and allowed themselves to be exploited should look to her for hope.

Lastly, and this can’t be emphasized enough, she has a right to voice her opinions, in view of the primacy accorded the constitutional right of free speech, which can only be curtailed if there is a showing of a clear and present danger of a substantive evil. Political law experts usually take this “substantive evil” to mean death and property destruction. Nothing that Mocha Uson posts on her blog will result in any of this, hence her constitutional right should be afforded to her.

  2. I do Agree she is better role model than those people whose trying to out her down. I'd say she has far more credible in providing the right and true news on whats going on in our beloved home country. I'd rather checked her blog for the whole day than to spend a minute to watch or read the article/news than the bias station. Laban lang Mocha Uson. #DDS#1

  9. Mocha is a beautiful person inside and out. She may have a checkered past (so what?!) but she turned her life around and found a higher calling. I think she is the Anjolina Jolie of the Philippines sans 6 kids. Go go go Mocha! No one has the strength and the courage to do what you do except you. Be strong and stay beautiful

  15. Some people think they can always have their way just bec they are well-off & well-educated. Inner breeding is most important & it is not exclusive to anyone.

  16. I have never liked her every since, but she is remarkable in a sense that she was able to turn her life around. Her past is her past. Good thing she was able to prove na she has the brains. That she has a good head above her shoulders.

Broken people are stronger compared to cloistered once (the self-righteous "decent" ones). And Maria Ressa is threatened by just a blogger? She and friends are threatened because they still see her as a nobody.

There are also other intellectuals who think they are very well informed when all they have been reading are the same sources. They think their sources are not biased. Really? Try reading other non-mainstream news like Daily Tribune, if you please. These so-called intellectuals who keep on reading the same sources and getting their opinions and beliefs out of it are NOT doing research, and that is NOT how you do research.

  26. Waddya mean 'lack of education?' Mocha Uson has a bachelor's degree in medtech from UST. in fact, she even went to medicine proper until 2nd year. it just so happens she chose to work in the entertainment industry. nonetheless, i salute her for her passion nowadays - good governance.
