Some governments identify those products that are necessary to the welfare of their people and subsidize the businesses that provide those things, until they get off the ground.

Why are we importing cheap motorcycles with 2 cycle internal combustion engines from other countries instead of promoting the electric vehicles that are being made in the Philippines?

The Chinese developed a type of trash recycler that is able to produce building materials. Why isn't there one of those in every municipality? The two innovations above could create jobs and address the pollution problems that plague our country.

The wealthy and powerful do not want progress because they are making tons of money just the way things are now.

Victims of drug-crazed addicts don't get 'trending' hashtags like #JusticeForKian

For the past few days I was doing research on a few things like I said. A new FB friend sent me a message telling me about a Dad in Dumaguete who lost his only daughter to a drug crazed addict who used 7 knives to stab her and a friend in Siquijor last April. I did the research, read up on everything and his recent "upheavals". I need not tell you all that I have no words to fully express how deeply this affects me because I am a single mom with a daughter too. His only daughter was even 3 - 4 months pregnant when she and her friend was mercilessly stabbed to death so many times by a drug addict. Nino Pinero is a professor in Siliman University. He is a coach. Given what I have read about this gentleman, he is a very compassionate man, a loving father and being a coach to youngsters - deeply loved by his students. And I would like to give him his privacy in as much as I can. 100% respect for this man. His recent "upheavals" came with the pronouncements

Filipinos don't know the meaning of "thoughtless extravagance" or ostentatious spending. This is a symptom of that very Filipino fiesta mentality. To the Filipino mind it is ok to spend even if it means ruining your bank account in order to please your friends. That's what it seems DongYan were doing – pleasing their fans showing them a fairytale wedding before their very eyes. Furthermore, DongYan fans/haters would note that in spite of Marian's Madrilena origins, she is quite the 'Palengkera' and 'Bobita' in speech which allows her to connect and endear herself to the masses who are fooled into thinking that she had humble origins – a real life Cinderella. Jose Rizal never had Tagalog in mind when he encouraged us to love our own language

Posted by a certain Chloe Santiago on the Facebook GRP Community Group : Jose Rizal died in 1896 and Tagalog was declared the official language of the Philippine only in 1937. This can only mean that Rizal wasn't really talking about Tagalog when he made this statement: "He who does not love his own language is worse than an animal and smelly fish." Indeed. Who made the arbitrary directive to make the Tagalog dialect the "National Language" to begin with? Furthermore, why have a "National Language" when Filipinos are already proficient in the global lingua franca of commerce and scientific achievement?
