In the Carlos Celdran case, Yellowtards find out that the Catholic Church is a snake that could bite its handler

When you charm a snake make sure you don't turn your back to it. That's what happened to the Yellowtards. In supporting Carlos Celdran's "Damaso" stunt, they foolishly turned their back towards the beast they had gotten in bed with.

The Roman Catholic Church, after all, makes friends only with those who toe the line. The "prayerful" branding of the Yellowtards was consistent with this line. Not Celdran's stunt, however. Even the nuns that pad the street rallies Yellowtards are famous for wouldn't have approved of a social media caricature disrupting a religious event.

This is the whole trouble with using personalities as currency for one's advocacies, politics, and ideologies. Personalities are not stable. Principles usually are. Unfortunately Filipinos find using the latter as bases for their convictions as too difficult. Too much brain is needed for that.

Jose Rizal never had Tagalog in mind when he encouraged us to love our own language

Posted by a certain Chloe Santiago on the Facebook GRP Community Group : Jose Rizal died in 1896 and Tagalog was declared the official language of the Philippine only in 1937. This can only mean that Rizal wasn't really talking about Tagalog when he made this statement: "He who does not love his own language is worse than an animal and smelly fish." Indeed. Who made the arbitrary directive to make the Tagalog dialect the "National Language" to begin with? Furthermore, why have a "National Language" when Filipinos are already proficient in the global lingua franca of commerce and scientific achievement?

NAIA GM Jose Angel Honrado makes fool of himself in Senate hearing!

NAKAKAHIYA I watched Bodet Honrado's performance before the Senate. It's clear that the job of NAIA Gen Manager is too big for him. He is out of place there and should be yanked out before more damage is done to passengers, airlines, tourism, the economy and the country's reputation.  The lesson here is quite basic. Place people in key positions whose qualifications, experience and track record fit the job.
