Malacanang spox Harry Roque clarifies to @chrgovph: Perps of human rights abuse not only police or military

Apologists of the Philippines' Commission on Human Rights (CHR) should stop using the excuse that the agency only investigates abuse perpetrated by police or military personnel.

Malacanang spokesman Harry Roque has finally clarified what protecting and upholding human rights is really all about...
Roque, a lawyer who has represented human rights victims, added it is wrong for the CHR to claim that its primary mandate is to watch out for abuses committed by state actors. 
“So far, I’ve not heard any investigation conducted by the CHR on the atrocities committed by the Mautes,” he said. 
“It is always atrocities allegedly committed by state agents ‘no. And their position has been consistent, [their] role is to document abuses of human rights committed by state agents, which is wrong, because international humanitarian law punishes everyone, even non-state actors," said Roque. 
Makes perfect sense.

The sound of a #Tagalog convo: 'like chickens and hens cackling in unison'

While I'm not sure the language should totally go the way Latin did, one can't deny the limited use of Tagalog. As it is now, a sentence can't be done without two or three borrowed words in English which makes it redundant in academia. Somehow you gotta address the technical jargon but there really is no equivalent to it in Tagalog so the English term just ends up jammed in between the local vernacular. Nevermind the fact that reading Tagalog online is cringey no matter who wrote it. Add the fact that it just doesn't sound pleasing to the ear. Normal conversation with Tagalog is like chickens and hens cackling in unison to the uninitiated. It's the peasants' language through and through. ------------ This is a GRP Featured Comment. Jose Rizal never had Tagalog in mind when he encouraged us to love our own language

Posted by a certain Chloe Santiago on the Facebook GRP Community Group : Jose Rizal died in 1896 and Tagalog was declared the official language of the Philippine only in 1937. This can only mean that Rizal wasn't really talking about Tagalog when he made this statement: "He who does not love his own language is worse than an animal and smelly fish." Indeed. Who made the arbitrary directive to make the Tagalog dialect the "National Language" to begin with? Furthermore, why have a "National Language" when Filipinos are already proficient in the global lingua franca of commerce and scientific achievement?

So Sass Rogando Sasot posted a reaction on her FB page to defend Andanar : Regarding the GRP Short article on Andanar being suspected as a “mole.” Ang premise nila eh si Andanar eh walang ginagawa to protect the “international image” of the president. FYI, in order for you to counter the PR of those who would like to bring down Duterte, you need to spend A LOT OF MONEY for international PR. Mahal po ang international PR. Si Duterte po ang ayaw gumastos for international PR. Yup, Duterte is not like PNoy’s admin who spent a filthy amount of tax payer’s money for international PR. I think someone on Get Real Post already pointed out before that Sasot is book-smart but lacks common sense. We see proof of that once again here. Does regularly monitoring and editing Duterte’s Wikipedia page to give foreigners more balanced info cost a lot of money? No, it doesn’t.
