Why criticise Mocha Uson for expressing an opinion and stating that said opinion is her opinion and nothing more?

Current "vice president" Leni Robredo always starts her statements with "Ang sa akin lang naman..." (or something to that effect) to qualify an assertion she is about to make.

The oh-so-noble journalists are at it again, this time, with Duterte’s Hitler comment.

I am no Duterte fanatic. I criticize him more scathingly than anyone when his mouth is out of line. But this time, Duterte really didn’t say anything wrong.

The real culprits behind the fuss over his Hitler comment are Karen Lema and Manuel Mogato, two Filipino reporters of the Reuters news agency, who wrote this article: “Philippines’ Duterte likens himself to Hitler, wants to kill millions of drug addicts”.

Lema and Mogato are Filipinos. There’s no way they could have misunderstood what Duterte really meant in his speech. I watched the video and this is what the President said:

“Hitler massacred 3 million Jews. There are 3 million drug addicts. I’d be happy to slaughter them. At least, if Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have ….. my victims, all criminals, to finish a problem of my country, and save the next generation.”

Jover Laurio (a.k.a. @PinoyAkoBlog) seemingly wishes that President Rodrigo Duterte and his family would die in a plane crash

A screen shot of what looks like a tweet posted -- then subsequently deleted -- by the Twitter account of top Opposition blog Pinoy Ako Blog (PAB) hinted at a wish that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and his entire family to would perish in a plane crash.



Translated in English, the text before the smileys in the purported tweet reads, "To be fair, at least if he dies during the trip, he'll be with his family in death."

It is interesting to note that Jover Laurio, the person behind PAB, was named Filipino of the Year by the Inquirer.

For the record, the author of this post did reach out to her supporters to seek assistance in getting a statement from Laurio regarding the above purported tweet.

What does a rosary sent by @Pontifex to Leila De Lima prove?

In other news, the Pope reportedly sent a rosary to Senator Leila De Lima who is in prison on charges of drug trafficking. The report is being widely-circulated by critics of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte as if to send across a message that De Lima is backed by no less than God himself.


De Lima earlier wrote a letter to Pope Francis  asking for "blessings" and "prayer" so that she could "have the strength to continue the fight against the injustice that is happening not only to me, but to thousands of Filipinos who are victims of extrajudicial killing."

"I cannot thank Pope Francis enough for his thoughtfulness. I'm deeply, deeply touched by the Pope's gesture.
