Will #PopeFrancis's visit make the #Philippines a better country?

By -

Pope John Paul II came to the Philippines twice; nothing that makes this country a better Catholic nation happened afterwards.

I doubt if there would be any kind of collective positive transformation that would happen long after Pope Francis leaves.

How the 1986 'people power revolution' was engineered by the United States

The Marcos Administration, during the 1972-81 martial law period tripled the country's road network, doubled the electrification of the country's homes, increased irrigated cropland eight-fold, and achieved rice and corn self-sufficiency. Minimum daily wage rates tripled, although inflation, driven by international oil price hikes and exploding U.S. interest rates, more than wiped out these wage increases. The oil price hike got Marcos thinking about Nuclear power. But the opponents of Marcos were soon being wined and dined in Washington, by both the right wing (Shultz and Wolfowitz) and the left wing (Rep. Stephen Solarz, Sen. Ted Kennedy, and Princeton's Richard Falk) of the "Project Democracy" apparatus, which performed the subversive tasks assigned by the synarchist banking institutions. Salvador Laurel, the son of the quisling President of the Philippines under the Japanese occupation, headed the opposition after Aquino's assassination, and in Februar...

Leni Robredo betrays Filipinos in another interview for TIME Magazine!

It’s not just Leni Robredo’s video to the UN that makes her guilty of betrayal of public trust. She also gave an interview to Time magazine that was published around the same time as the release of her UN video, the filing of the impeachment against President Duterte, and the announcement of the EU Parliament’s resolution. You still want us to believe this is all just a coincidence, Leni? Maybe your masters left you out of the planning because you are just a puppet, but they were definitely coordinating their moves. Note that in the Time interview, Leni makes the Philippines sound like a chaotic, dangerous place with a total breakdown of law and order, such that international organizations need to intervene. She also undermines the integrity of the Philippine judiciary by telling the world that Leila de Lima’s arrest (which was ordered by the court) was politically motivated and basically illegal. She conveniently fails to mention that the national penitentiary becam...

Hypocrisy of Philippines' "disente" crowd exposed by President Rodrigo Duterte

The problem with the "disente" crowd (i.e. Mar Roxas, Risa Hontiveros, Winnie Monsod, wannabe hangers-on like Leni Robredo and Leila de Lima etc) and their oligarch backers is that they only care about themselves and about appearances. Notice how the words they use to criticize Duterte like "unpresidential" and "foul-mouthed" are all premised on some form of pakitang-tao. It's like they don't care that the guy has cut processing times at government offices, given OFWs a one-stop shop, significantly lowered the crime rate after less than 2 months in office. They just fixate on how he talks, his broken English, his bombastic demeanor, and fret "oh, what will the world think of us?" Mas importante pa ba ang iniisip ng UN at ng mga ambassador at mga foreign media kaysa opinyon at kapakanan ng mamamayang Pilipino? Even the very use of the word "disente" by this oligarch-backed group as their tagline reeks of condescension and d...

Former Rodrigo Duterte supporter explains why he changed his mind after 'rape joke' video

By -

I planned to vote for him before because of his no-nonsense approach and actions against crime and criminals in general, so he's the last person I'd expect to make a joke about thinking of committing a crime as barbaric and heinous as rape especially given the fact that he had long years of first hand experience seeing dead bodies of victims of such an act… I've seen the whole video of that speech and listened to the backstory. He had himself get taken hostage at knifepoint risking his life and limb, and he himself lead the offensive using his own Uzi firearm to eliminate the bad guys. Yes, I acknowledge that these are indeed heroic acts on his part worthy of recognition, but I still struggle to find a good explanation for that rape joke. So I've watched the full video of his apology. He told the whole story again and said a lot of things but I didn't get the answer I was hoping for. What he said was he wasn't making a joke, and it was just gutter language utt...
