Freedom is something each of us can have IN us

It starts with knowledge, and the route to knowledge is called learning. Not data or information the rote Filipino education teaches.

After knowledge comes its application – know-how. Then comes actual application – doing. With doing comes true mastery.

With mastery of at least one thing comes the confidence that is the foundation of freedom within oneself against all outside vagaries.

It is a long road and a constant process. Asian martial arts and meditation masters know that, which a reason for the confidence and success of Northeast Asian cultures over Southeast Asian ones. Or the success of the German culture as opposed to Latin Europe. The ancient guild system emphasizes mastery in whatever one chooses to do. Mistakes there are lessons learned on the way to mastery.

President Duterte offering Leni Robredo the housing appointment feels forced, both by FVR and the Yellow people. I find it exceedingly worrisome that Duterte said he takes his orders from FVR.  That is NOT a good sign, believe me.  Remember it was FVR who told Duterte that he and the immorally proclaimed VP ought to work together. If you think about FVR's known history and track record, that would just be a hint of why this alliance is a very problematic one for the nation.  Moreover, even if President Duterte gave Robredo a Cabinet post, that still doesn't erase the reality of massive ELECTORAL FRAUD that got her her immoral proclamation.  Millions of Filipinos don't believe she is the rightful VP and having successfully pressured Duterte to offer her a Cabinet post will not change that reality. ------------------- Victoria V. Duterte BPI bank scandal a trap set for Trillanes?

There are now papers floating around that the BPI account in Julia Vargas has a running balance of around Php22,000xx from March 2015 to March 2016. It's peanuts, and Trillanes makes a big fuzz about it? Sonamagan, even call center agents would have this kind of bank accounts; definitely does not show a corrupt DU30. And then, Trillanes talks of 42 real estate properties, but mostly owned by the children of DU30. Yet, the first one that media checks is a unit in P Guevarra, which is only valued at 2.3 million. Even ordinary employees could buy such unit. That could hardly buy just the main door, an imported antique, in the house of Binay, which has been valued at 15 million, yes just the freaking door by itself. What is this, they are again using trial by publicity, which they effectively used on CJ Corona whom they accused him of having 80 properties. The @CHRgovPh is presently a legal fiction, has no legal basis even to call itself a Commission

Yen Makabenta, whom I respect being one of our best columnists, claims the CHR is in "suspended animation" because of lack of an enabling law to legitimize it. Like so many people, I had assumed the CHR had a legal basis. So I went back to the 1987 Constitution which was ratified by plebiscite on Feb.2, 1987. Article IX of the 1987 Constitution created three constitutional commissions: the Civil Service Commission, the Commission on Elections, and the Commission on Audit. Article XIII Sec.1 states that "Congress shall give highest priority to the enactment of measures that protect and enhance the right of all the people to human dignity..." The #Philippines: A highly-sexualized society

Unfortunately the Philippines is a sexualized society, meaning that the only thing that matters is lust. Ika nga "sex sells" and it's very sad that Filipino society is indeed sexualized. From noontime shows to simple conversations, sex is the number one topic. I'm not saying sex is bad. It's actually a basic human need. But it has not to be perverted or making it an obsession. Sexualization reduces a person into a sex object meaning he or she is only worthy if she's oozing with sex appeal. Her intelligence and inner character become useless. The American Psychological Association defines sexualization as follows:"individuals are regarded as sex objects and evaluated in terms of their physical characteristics and sexiness" and unfortunately, this is what defines modern Philippine society thanks to Hollywood and moreover to prudish Christianity especially the Catholic Church.
