Philippines aspires to eliminate rice imports this year!

According to this report, the Philippines will reduce rice imports to ZERO this year...
Oct. 10 (Bloomberg) -- The Philippines will no longer import rice this year even after recent typhoons that damaged crops, Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala said in Manila today, after a meeting of the National Food Authority council.

The import plan for next year will be discussed in November once an audit of the damaged crops and likely harvest for the remainder of 2011 have been completed, Alcala said.

President Duterte offering Leni Robredo the housing appointment feels forced, both by FVR and the Yellow people. I find it exceedingly worrisome that Duterte said he takes his orders from FVR.  That is NOT a good sign, believe me.  Remember it was FVR who told Duterte that he and the immorally proclaimed VP ought to work together. If you think about FVR's known history and track record, that would just be a hint of why this alliance is a very problematic one for the nation.  Moreover, even if President Duterte gave Robredo a Cabinet post, that still doesn't erase the reality of massive ELECTORAL FRAUD that got her her immoral proclamation.  Millions of Filipinos don't believe she is the rightful VP and having successfully pressured Duterte to offer her a Cabinet post will not change that reality. ------------------- Victoria V. There are now papers floating around that the BPI account in Julia Vargas has a running balance of around Php22,000xx from March 2015 to March 2016. It's peanuts, and Trillanes makes a big fuzz about it? Sonamagan, even call center agents would have this kind of bank accounts; definitely does not show a corrupt DU30. And then, Trillanes talks of 42 real estate properties, but mostly owned by the children of DU30. Yet, the first one that media checks is a unit in P Guevarra, which is only valued at 2.3 million. Even ordinary employees could buy such unit. That could hardly buy just the main door, an imported antique, in the house of Binay, which has been valued at 15 million, yes just the freaking door by itself. Mocha Uson a better role model for women than her "decent" critics

Mocha Uson has struck a chord with the people. She did not grow up sheltered like some of these decent people. In 2002, she lost her father, a judge to an [politically motivated?] ambush killing. She was probably 20 at the time. She has had to make a living and a name for herself as best she could. Any resentment she feels, she has kept to herself, she does not bring up the murder every now and then as though she should be given sympathy (not like some personalities who like to bring up the necro card). So she became a sexy dancer? So what? Apparently, she was able to turn her life around and find a more honorable calling. She may not have had the education some people have, but people change, people learn, and education is a process that does not end once one leaves university. Over 100M-peso cost of #DongYanWedding shouldered by GMA Network as publicity investment!

I was correct with my gut feelings. My friendly butiki, who listens to everything inside the executive offices of GMA7, confirmed that it was the network that paid for everything (repeat, everything) in the so called 'royal wedding'. It was over Php100m on the wedding day alone, not including other expenses in the pre-nuptial activities. This is an eye-popping amount if it is just a wedding expense (as I am one of those who think that a 20m wedding is already stupid and insensitive in a Third World setting, even if one could afford a 500m one). Over 100m, however, is a justifiable amount, even cheap vis-a-vis the ROI, if it is accounted as marketing and advertising expense of a large corporation that regularly spends much more anyway in their ads and promos.
