Philippines "Mexico of the Far East"! Could Duterte change that situation?

Image
I never knew the Philippines was “a REAL southeast Asian country.” I’ve always thought of it as the Mexico of the Far East, complete with hand-me-down religion, government, and way of life from the west—where the people think like Spanish aristocrats and behave like Americans. This means Duterte will have to kill everybody, including himself, to erase everything that has defined the Philippines for centuries and start all over. -------------------- This is a GRP Featured Comment. Duterte is a breath of empowering uncertainty that creates spaces for us to redefine ourselves

DUTERTE:  AN UNCERTAINTY THAT EMPOWERS The public has spoken. An overwhelming majority considers the witness Edgar Matobato incredible. You see, this is no longer about truth but about politics and perceptions.  LP perfected this art when it deployed its full powers and even recruited the Ombudsman, the BIR, and COA in humiliating Renato Corona.  That was just a dress rehearsal. They did it again to the frontrunning Binay, enabling the dark horse Duterte to blindside them. Oh, LP tried to use the same squid tactics courtesy of media networks and a resourceful but woefully effete Senator, but it was too late. In demonizing Binay, LP ended up with a worse nightmare. This is why even if I did not vote for Digong Duterte, and I must confess I was one of those who was critical of him during the campaign, I have learned to like the man, very much. Even if I should quickly add my fundamental disagreements with him on several issues such as human rights, the drug policy...

Filipinos must REFUSE to be manipulated by Philippine media!

Image
NO, WE WILL NOT! A concerted effort is being done to paint the President as a tyrannical despot, a threat to human rights, in the global mainstream media. UN seems to be coasting along. This is going towards the direction of lumping him with the hated dictators such as Qadaffi, or Milosevic, and others who presided over the massive violation of human rights among their own people, some even reaching genocidal proportions. Even here at home, attempts by LP and anti-Duterte human rights advocates to liken him to Ferdinand Marcos are palpable. Except that Marcos is now seen in a better light by the Filipino people. His son almost won (or in fact has won) the Vice Presidency.  So this strategy of painting a Marcos into Duterte may just backfire. And these Western agents of a decontextualized form of liberalism, clueless of the specific nuances inherent in cultures and in local histories as they are, fail to appreciate the nuances of our historical, social, political, cultur...

Philippine media in orchestrated campaign to demonize Duterte government before international audience

Image
TO ALL FILIPINOS HERE & ABROAD: As you too must have realized by now, yesterday's Senate circus was not at all in aid of legislation or in pursuit of truth re: EJK. It now obviously appears as an organized, well-orchestrated black propaganda against the new government intended for the foreign press and with US, UN, and the international community as the main or target audience. It is no longer much for us Filipinos based in Philippines as we can more easily verify the veracity of the information and see through the lies and half-truths being presented. Some groups are resorting to black ops after the government waged a serious war against the players in the multi-billion illegal drug trade which has become a huge threat to the lives, wealth, and power of several narco-politicians and big time drug lords. Our country's oligarchs are equally threatened by and unhappy with many of the President's pronouncements. You must have seen the latest video from New York T...

Malacanang Communications team need to shape up to counter campaign to demoralize Duterte's supporter base

Image
The whole show staged by Leila de Lima with Edgar Matobato was meant for the international media. It didn't matter that Matobato's testimony was full of loopholes. De Lima just needed someone who would make outrageous accusations against Duterte on live TV at the senate hall, so the foreign media would have new material for anti-Duterte stories. The yellows and their foreign backers are now focusing on international media because they know the local media has been overwhelmed by Duterte's popularity. The constant negative propaganda on foreign media is meant to rattle investors and tourists, and demoralize people who support Duterte. It is also meant to stir up a global clamor for Duterte to be charged at the ICC (International Criminal Court) and forced to vacate his post. The Duterte government should not let the UN do an "independent" investigation like they've been lobbying. That is a trap. That investigation will be anything but independent. ...

Edgar Matobato was a bullet the Liberal Party had long been wanting to fire at Duterte, turns out to be a dud!

Image
I'm one of those persons who finds the timing of this whole senate hearings very fishy. Matobato was supposedly in the witness protection program of the DOJ since Duterte was still a Mayor. I'm also pretty sure that Matobato is not the only witness that the DOJ and the CHR have in connection with the Davao Death Squad. So why didn't they use them to smear the campaign of Duterte? My theory is that, these witnesses were ready to be presented to the public during the campaign period. If the Ruling party (LP) had enough time, they would have, but sadly, they were too busy dealing with Binay and Poe to notice Duterte. Then Trillanes started his smear campaign against Duterte with the BPI account affair, and the reaction of the people to this campaign probably scared the LP because, for the first time, they realized just how monstrous Duterte's popularity really was. They must have thought that a Duterte presidency was a real possibility. They thought even that if th...

Black propaganda against Duterte feeding off ignorance of foreign media

Image
The Yellow Party has stepped-up its black propaganda campaign after being busted on its plans to impeach him. To do this, they first needed to smear his popularity. They’re also taking advantage of the profound ignorance of the foreign community about the character of Pinoy Culture and penchant for malicious rumors, also the real character of the President. The Yellow Party & its underworld connections would gladly plunge into demonic depths of maliciousness & insidiousness, inciting sedition, just to demolish their political target—-which is the President in this case . Matobato said Duterte had once even issued an order to kill de Lima, when she chaired the Commission on Human Rights and was investigating the mayor's possible role in extrajudicial killings in 2009 in Davao. He said he and others were waiting to ambush de Lima but she did not go to a part of a hilly area — a suspected mass grave — where they were waiting to open fire.  "If you went inside t...
