Indeed, Filipinos need to be assured through official Malacañang statements that their President will always tell the truth...
“The President ordered that all statistics, facts and figures should be vetted. It’s very clear that President Aquino will not say anything that is not true,” Lacierda said.

In the Philippines, that which goes without saying has to be said nonetheless.

Am I being a crab if I thought that the Philippines as the least rude country in a recent survey is complete and utter bullsh*t?  If you think about it, maybe we are very polite and cordial, to foreigners, as long as we can keep milking money from them.   Actually, this isn't even being polite; it's being called sipsip and switik.   Once they run out of money or just stop spending it on us, and especially once they criticize us constructively and give us tips on how to improve, we immediately say that the Joes are stupid and that they should all go home. The verdict has been given; Renato Corona was pronounced guilty, and this impeachment trial will go down in Philippine history as the first impeachment trial to be actually concluded. Now what do we do? Should we now go back to more important matters like economics, or should we impeach another "Arroyo lackey" to prolong the zarzuela? PNoy, the ball is on your court now. Well, no. A policy bomb was detonated in Beijing, and now the nation is feeling the tremors of said pronouncement. Typically, the initial reaction zoomed on a matter of choice - USA versus China. The westerners in us are frantic. "We just can't do that to Uncle Sam!" What about the economy? What about aid? Our military? The BPOs? What about our immigrant relatives?
