Hopefully there can be progress in the Philippines – but not without a systemic change in values from the top down. The Philippines ought to be able to improve – but this is contingent upon good policies, honesty, ending corruption and laws be followed. I am doubtful Duterte can change things; further, what will happen next election? If he can make significant changes( infrastructure, proper funding of departments, end corruption) then the country may move toward a better direction. Referring to previous comments regarding foreign typhoon aid, other countries will donate and the money will be stolen as usual. I remember the comments from Roxas to Romualdez in Tacloban, after Yolanda . The politicians have hatred for each other. I remember politicians repackaging aid goods from foreign countries and putting their name and picture on it. Sometimes ‘aid’ comes as a quasi bribe, in my opinion. A video supposedly of "vice president" Leni Robredo ironing the graduation toga of one of her daughters is going viral. As expected, Yellowtard Netizens are ecstatic over this latest "evidence" that their "vice president" comes across as one of the "common tao". The idea of a politician or, for that matter, anyone perceived as may kaya (can hold their own financially) ironing their own clothes is an alien concept in Philippine society. The Philippines has, after all, an enormous supply of labourers willing to work as servants even for lower-middle-class Filipino households. So huge is this surplus labour supply that servants can be paid peanuts to do even sub-human work. Jose Rizal never had Tagalog in mind when he encouraged us to love our own language

Posted by a certain Chloe Santiago on the Facebook GRP Community Group : Jose Rizal died in 1896 and Tagalog was declared the official language of the Philippine only in 1937. This can only mean that Rizal wasn't really talking about Tagalog when he made this statement: "He who does not love his own language is worse than an animal and smelly fish." Indeed. Who made the arbitrary directive to make the Tagalog dialect the "National Language" to begin with? Furthermore, why have a "National Language" when Filipinos are already proficient in the global lingua franca of commerce and scientific achievement?

Leni Robredo is incapable of taking a position on CRITICAL national issues

The Philippines' "vice president" Leni Robredo is renowned for starting every statement with the phrase " ang sa akin lang naman " (in my humble opinion). As in something like this, for example... Ang sa akin lang naman, Martial Law in Mindanao won't be effective... Blah blah blah... And more of that to the same effect. What does Robredo's propose? Essentially nothing . The trouble with that is, Filipinos are all options but no roadmap . As such, Robredo mirrors the essence of the failure of the Philippine Opposition. They make a lot of noise about options (packaged as being "critical" of the administration) yet offer no pathway forward. It is hardly surprising why the Philippine Opposition led by the Yellowtards continues to fail.
