Why do Filipinos see rich people as necessarily bad?

The idea that rich people might actually be good people is something one that is often alien to the Filipino mind. Must be all that Catholic indoctrination at work there (that "It is easier for a camel..." crap many of us grew up on).

    oddly enough, the oligarchy that's been keeping a firm grip on the country's wealth for themselves, make for quite an example of this belief that rich people are probably not selfless. look at the lopezes and the abscbn empire. they even sold the country a moron for a leader. wow.

An open letter to CNN on their reporting on the #YolandaPH disaster in the Philippines

This "open letter" was found making the rounds on social media: * * * Dear Sirs: I just wanted to make some comments on the reporting of the CNN International crew here in Manila, regarding the relief efforts for the victims of super-typhoon Haiyan (which we locally call typhoon Yolanda). First, full disclosure: I am a retired Filipino executive and computer person. I was born in the Philippines and spent all my life here (save for some very short overseas stints connected with my career). BREAKING NEWS! Bongbong Marcos NOT conceding! Fight vs fraud is on!

Contrary to the way Big Yellow Media and International Media have portrayed events of recent days, the reality is BBM is NOT CONCEDING.  I have learned just now in good authority that this is so.  The focus right now is on gathering and documenting evidence and testimonies of electoral fraud.  Much has already been gathered and more are coming.  Please continue to be extra vigilant and engaged as these days are ultra critical while there is not yet a VP proclamation. I also want to take issue with all the news stories that say Senator BBM has lost the election.  This is not objectively true.  If a proper recount is done taking into consideration all issues and instances of fraud, Marcos Jr. is by all accounts and as reported by all third party exit polls, the TRUE WINNER.  These stories on mainstream media are just way too premature and profoundly wrong.  Please do not believe them.  Stay tuned here to know what is really going on in this developing story. Leni Robredo's non-stop self-promotion: Can't wait to be President?

While Leni Robredo is “waiting for something to happen to the president”, she spends her time in numerous PR activities. Nothing new there, but today I saw a couple of pictures that bothered me. Here is Photo 1 , taken Aug 24, 2016 at the Jesse Robredo exhibit that was mounted in Gateway mall, a property owned by the family of Mar Roxas. Here is Photo 2 , taken Aug 29, 2016 at the launch of a Jesse Robredo book in Fully Booked BGC. What do you notice about these two photos? The design of the visuals is very reminiscent of the imagery associated with Philippine presidents. Photo 1 shows a classic “trooping of the guard” image. Photo 2 shows a book cover with a head bust that has a Philippine flag prominently displayed in the background. Does the late Jesse Robredo, as respected as he was, warrant this level of presidential imagery? Most of his political career was spent in Naga City.
