Debunking the #Ateneo's pompous statements about Martial Law 'revisionism'

Image
"We are not blind to the darkness" and our eyes are wide open to the light! (an answer to the Ateneans) "We must start with the truth." And so you pompously declared. And so what is the truth? That EDSA was a "truly a genuine popular uprising and triumph against dictatorship"? Truth? How about Enrile and Honasan and their men planned a coup against Marcos to take over the government but was discovered which Cardinal Sin and the foes of Marcos saw as a chance for his ouster thus the call for people power? How about the Armed Forces of the Philippines holding the nation together by refusing to shoot at each other regardless of political leanings? How about 2 million or so people, by sheer noise and protest charted the next 30 years for the rest of the 60 million plus Filipinos at that time? How about the snap election being won by Marcos in spite of the cheating by both sides? How about EDSA being hijacked by the displaced oligarchs who roared to...

The Ateneo de Manila University has long remained silent on BS Aquino's pork barrel thievery

Image
Since 2014 the Ateneo has remained silent on its position on the pork barrel thievery of President BS Aquino... "Ateneo apparently hosted administration officials and allied personages and groups joining hands to support President Benigno Aquino 3rd, as unrest mounts over his trebling of the corrupt pork barrel, creation of the illegal Disbursement Acceleration Program, and undermining of both legislative and judicial independence." Excerpt from the Manila Times article here: http://www.manilatimes.net/ateneo-hold/124192/

Anti-Marcos activists brand Pinoy millenials 'stupid' after failing to 'educate' them. #NeverAgain

Image
This is something the anti-Marcos forces are always having a hard time to counter, though they will never admit it. It is good that there's rightist and [rightness] around quickly offering a counter-view for the other side of the coin, so to speak. And, easily, by contrast, any reader could see how impoverished and cynical their views are. No big wonder really why, despite all their efforts, the Millennials could not be drawn to their side even if they knelt and begged. So, for their failure to even understand where their arguments fizzle, they resort to simply branding the Millennials as stupid and gullible, and slamming down opinions like yours as sophisticated lies peddled by highly-paid propagandists under the payroll of the Marcoses. -------------- This is a GRP Featured Comment. Manny Pacquiao has no idea of what being a legislator is all about!

Image
When confronted with his absences in congress, Pacquiao replied that although he attended only a total of 4 sessions, he has been busy attending to the needs of his constituency i.e. building houses, basketball courts, what-have-you! Gleaning from his statement, I can say that the F-ckman has no fucking clue of what his job is at all! If he believes that public service is building houses etc. to his constituency, then I will suggest, no plead with him to run for mayor or governor of his province where he can exercise a more direct approach public service. Legislation particularly the senate involves crafting legislative measures and overseeing the operation of government. Subjects which are way above the intellectual capacity and experience of Pacquiao! As Dirty Harry said, "A man got to know his limitations"! Despite his "humble" public persona, Pacquiao in reality has a huge ego! He believe that he can be anyone that he wants to be and he can do everything he ...

Philippines' dog-eat-dog business environment crushes hopes of small business owners

Image
Small businesses and cottage industries can thrive if they are allowed to. The thing with big businesses is that by expanding too much you have to drive everybody out of business. In Australia, for instance, you rarely see the predominance of big chain businesses in the suburbs because there are small businesses that cater to the needs of the community. If there are any shopping districts, they grow organically. It is, in fact, a point of pride when someone can say that their produce is sourced locally. You know that when you buy it you help a neighbour either pay for their bills or send their kid to school. And they do the same for you. One doesn't have to force someone to fail just to succeed. It's not laziness to not want to expand—it's being satisfied with what you have. And because everyone is doing it, there is hardly anyone not working. Everyone does what they can. Everyone has a fair go. It's not so much the "heritage of smallness" so much as the...

On the courage and imagination of men of vision

Image
Throughout the centuries there were men who took first steps down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision. Their goals differed, but they all had this in common: that the step was first, the road new, the vision unborrowed, and the response they received — hatred. The great creators — the thinkers, the artists, the scientists, the inventors — stood alone against the men of their time. Every great new thought was opposed. Every great new invention was denounced. The first motor was considered foolish. The airplane was considered impossible. The power loom was considered vicious. Anesthesia was considered sinful. But the men of unborrowed vision went ahead. They fought, they suffered and they paid. But they won. --------------- This is a GRP Featured Comment. #NeverAgain: An empty slogan that highlights a failure to build a strong nation

Image
#NeverAgain, if they have streamlined the justice system. No, they didn't. In the Yellow Age, the undermining of the Supreme Court as an independent branch of government and a hallowed institution was complete and effective. Cases continue to be settled only after years and decades. Justice has become more selective — it is only available for the moneyed and the well-connected with the powers-that-be. #NeverAgain, if they have raised the quality of politics. No, they didn't. In the Yellow Age, forward looking ideas are not important. For that matter, it is not about any idea; vision is alien. Instead, emphasis has been, with zest, on ad hominem. Cory set the pace — policies were discussed in the mahjong table. Cabinet positions are not about the best and the brightest; it is about KKK, more about cronies. Politics is removed from reality; they think they are playing a computer game. #NeverAgain, if legislative agendas are about nation building. No, they ain't. Agendas a...
