Only rich Filipinos have a problem with the Martial Law years

I'm part of the Millenial generation. I grew up actually hating the entire Marcos family precisely because of what was taught in elementary and high school. I looked up to Ninoy as a hero/martyr.

Until I heard many first hand experiences from people who were actually alive during the Martial Law era – my college professors, my friends' parents, literally all of my co-workers so far who are in their 40s – 60s, farmers, taxi drivers, etc. They would all rather go back to the time of Marcos Sr's administration.

The only people I hear crying like a bitch about Marcos Sr's "atrocities" are the rich, the powerful, and the elite because apparently things during the Marcos era didn't go their way. Unlike now where they can just pay their way to get whatever they want and no one ever tells them "no." I rarely ever see anyone from the middle class and below complain about Martial Law.

So the problem isn't really our education system and how schools teach kids about Martial Law. The yellow party's problem is that they're running of out curtains to hide their lies and incompetence.

    1. Until now nangyayari pa rin yan. Puro kayo kasiraan ng Martial Law. Mas malala pa nga ang nangyari after Edsa Revolution.

    2. @Ryan - yea, that's probably HALF of Marcos's regime. So why don't we become bitter and angry over all the killings and hate Marcos for it? By the way, Marcos wasn't the only one who did Martial Law. Enrile and Ramos, who anti-Marcos claim as heros, were leaders of Martial Law. But anyways, life isn't about filling your soul with hatred and bitterness. Life sucks....but gotta move forward. If you don't want to move forward....then.....ok for you.

    3. I'm not saying I support the killings or the torture but I feel the Aquinos and the media over sensationalized and over emphasized Marcos as a horrible villain in history. History has its crappy parts....its sad when it gets revised to make someone look worse then they really were when others were involved as well. Marcos was no hero....but I don't believe he was happy with people getting tortured or dying. He did the best he could but I believe his "cronies" were a bit....twisted.

    4. hogwash. communism had a higher atrocity count. the victims just can't make noise because the threat is still there til now.

anti-martial law people would pretend as if the communist threat wasn't real then. millions of filipinos would have been led to their deaths if it weren't for M/L.

Martial law saved lives and this country.

MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS I9N CHRIST.LET US NOT PUT ALL THE BLAME TO PRESIDENT Marcos all the government officials under him during his administration declares it(martial law)he is not alone in declaring martial law.the very and ultimate reasons why he declare martial was these my friends.their was chaos and anarchy throughout the country bombings here and there.the NEW PEOPLES ARMY were instensely growing in number,we are almost under the seiges of a communist shadow government.PMAER VICTOR CORPUZ fled into the mountains to support the said revolution under the influence of BENIGNO AQUINO SR just to destibilised the Marcos administration thus then president marcos upon knowing the plans of the AQUINO who are against him declares martial.i sincverely thanks and praised marcos of saving the philippines from the hands of COMMUNISM in our country.before we talk and give our comments pls know your history and the things that had happened before the declaration of martial law.i was then 12 yrs old when martial law was declared in 1972.to me martial was good because t5hier was peace and order no more killings, rapes, etc rather it brings progress in our country.the killings, torturing and kidnapping your saying are applied to people who are against martial law they are the lawless citizens.like today those who are killed and aprehended are the people involved in drugs and criminals they are the ones who are killed.the same during martial law.the government was under the rule was under the military.pres MARCOS did not do the killings the kidnappings.the military does.like today pres duterte dont do the killing himself all the policemen under him did it,it is not my friend.so mai ask everyone to stop giving negative comments to pres Marcos.he is already dead,we must give our last respect before his internment my friends.NO ONE IS PERFECT IN THIS WORLD,WE ARE ALL SINNERS IN THE EYES OF GOD.THE LORD SAID LOVE YOUR ENEMIES,NEIGHBORS,ABOVE ALL LOVE ONE ANOTHER.IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SINLESS AND NO MISTAKES YOU MAY HATE MARCOS IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE A PERFECT PERSON.WE WILL BURY MARCOS TO UNITE THE DIVIDED LILIPINO PEOPLE.AN ADAges goes this way my friends...UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL.INSTEAD OF BLAMING AND POINTING ARE FINGERS TO ONLY ONE PERSON LET US THEN UNITE OURSELVES AND TRY TO SOLVE OUR PRESENT PROBLEMS IN OUR COUNTRY.LET US JOIN OUR HANDS TOGETHER JOIN THE PRESENT ADMINISTRATION FOR A BETTER AND PROGRESSIVE PHILIPPINES FOR THE SAKE OF OUR YOUNG GENERATIONS.STOP INSULTING BLAMING ONE ANOTHER,MY PRAYERS TO EVERYONE MY DEAR FRIEND IN FB.MAY THE LORD BESTOW HIS BLESSINGS TO EACH AND EVERYONE.GOD BLESS.MABUHAY TAYONG LAHAT

  5. Consider also that the rich led sheltered lives during M/L. Notice how they continue to dismiss the communist threat then as if it were all myth, and how they attribute the failure of the economy to M/L. They were never immersed enough in the countryside to know the real extent of the communist movement then. They've never associated with the poor rural folk that were such easy targets for communist indoctrination and recruitment. They've never had the experience of having their incomes and profits slashed to pay "taxes" at the pointing end of gun, or have their cars hijacked by sparrows for a hit mission or extortion campaign.

Communism is a killer. M/l, in fact, saved lives and this country. -JD
