Why should #BongbongMarcos apologise for #MartialLaw if Fidel Ramos and Juan Ponce Enrile won't?

On the issue of asking Bongbong Marcos to apologize for his parents, I agree, it doesn't make sense. It doesn't not because we're Asians but because he has nothing to do with what his father did. Why apologize for something he has nothing to do with? Ramos and Enrile (and other remnants of the Marcos regime) who were Martial Law architects were not asked to apologize for the dictator. Why would the son who was even a toddler/teenager at the time his father ruled with an iron fist?

Of course, he can apologize and that would still be within what being an Asian is. Admitting something that is a fact. But of course, he will not and should not because it will really do no good for him or his family except as a sound bite for those who wants to make him dance to their music.

  1. Lets assume bongbong did not know any of the crimes going on during and after martial law.

Is he exempted from apologizing because he was not involved? Possibly

But he is not allowed to deny that the crimes took place. Nor is he allowed to keep the money they stole.

""I don't think that the sins of the father should automatically pass on to the son, except that there is no acknowledgment of the truth, of history, much less remorse. Acknowledgment nga wala, remorse pa, not of the part he played because he was very young then, but the part played by his father, his family, his family's friends, those we called cronies," said Lidy Nacpil, widow of assassinated student leader Leandro Alejandro.

Not acknowledging is "very dangerous," Nacpil said at a forum commemorating the 41st year of the declaration of Martial Law, held at the University of the Philippines' College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.

Robert Verzola, who survived torture after his arrest as a member of the underground movement fighting against the Marcos dictatorship, agreed with Nacpil. "I would go even beyond that. It would be difficult for the son to denounce the father even if he's bad. I would even grant him that as a son, he would keep quiet about the sins of his father," said Verzola, one of the first graduates of the Philippine Science High School in 1969. "Pero yung ninakaw ng pamilya (But the money the family stole), I draw the line there. The money must be returned to the people. The money that makes them such a powerful family today is stolen money. That is the point where I draw the line."

    1. if were going to act like kids i guess where in the wrong path. what happens back then are over. its long gone and we cant live to the past. finger pointing and proving others mistake just to make yourself better or simply by just hiding your own shit isn't making any sense at all.
Will the Philippines change its course? will the poor get rich? will the hungry get food? will the sick be cured? Unless this stupid attitude of the people injected by this BS! hyped mass media stop, we cant move on and people will not move on. Enrile, Ramos, as well as Cory, have their own misdeeds, but do people curse them? its in the other way around they were treated as saints, BS!. if there's someone to be blame its us.. we elected this officials put them into power. Its us cause we listen to the everyday local radio, tv, news, its us cause we believe in politics, its us cause we feel were deprive coz we didn't see the really sufferings and in order to do that we need to have a revolution. its us because were the one who is always involve..

  5. Mr. Charles wake-up man... don't live in a past trying to pull other's down, the life before was different from the life today. besmirching one life will not do anything that will lead to Nation building. Granting that Mr. Marcos did something. does the law convicted him of the wrong doing? till now nothing was proved.

How about if your father did something wrong? will you condemn him for what he did? let's get over. that was thing of the past. live with it and move on man.
