Vice Ganda demonstrates he is still a man at heart after 'fat' swipe at Jessica Soho

Apparently you simply can't take the man out of Jose Marie Viceral (a.k.a. Vice Ganda) no matter how woman he looks. Jokes dished out by the popular Filipino comedian was simply un-womanly. As most women -- even certified babes -- who struggle with insecurities surrounding their physical appearance know at heart, jokes about weight hit home hard. But what really took the cake was Viceral's reportedly flippant regard for rape -- notably its particularly horrific flavour: gang rape.
During his concert at the Araneta Coliseum, Vice Ganda made fun of Soho's weight and "joked that if Jessica Soho were a bold star in a movie, the scene would have to involve a 'gang rape,'" GMA News Online reported.
Soho, class act that she is, responds with grace:
"Rape is not a joke and should never be material for a comedy concert," Jessica Soho, who is GMA's Vice President for News and Public Affairs, said in a statement.
"I thank all those who shared my hurt and expressed their support, but this should not be about me but about rape victims who suffer tremendously from this terrible crime. The horrors they go through are unspeakable and should never be taken lightly, especially by way of a cruel joke," Soho said in a statement sent to GMA News Online.
There are many no-go zones when it comes to humour. Rape is top of that list along with a woman's physical appearance and her children. Some folks in showbiz and cyberspace simply cannot get that and create entire cult followings hinged upon a taste for vicious attacks against a person's personal circumstances which, otherwise, is really none of anyone's business.

Philippine society can best be evaluated by sampling the sort of people Filipinos put on a pedestal. Vice Ganda is at the top of his game and is considered a demigod by his legions -- millions and millions -- of fans. He attracts a hefty talent fee for every appearance and, as such, puts a concrete peso value on the solid business proposition the dysfunctional aesthetic tastes of Filipinos command. It is a business value proposition around which much of Philippine showbiz was built.

  1. Of course you can't take the man out of him, he identifies as male. Just because he's a very effeminate gay man doesn't mean that he's any less of a man. Your opening line stinks of transphobia.

Such a very disappointing behaviour he did. He is not deserving for a respect. Ang yabang porket sumikat ka? Public apology is not enough, He should be sued and be imprisoned. He even mentioned that Ms. Charo Santos is having fun na he made joke towards a personality from other network, the nerve. Siraulo

    1. ABS won't react. If you look at the rape joke part, Charo Santos had most of the laugh while Vice was making fun of Jessica Soho. It was a revelation of what kind of people run this network which prefer profit among many othee things.

    1. So much butthurt. Everything and everyone should be open to ridicule and criticism. If it was meant as a joke, take it as a joke. Get over it.

    2. And it is precisely that attitude that is one of the reasons why the Philippines is a basketcase. Because Filipinos can't discern when they've crossed a line.

let's see what will happen next pag nagsalita na c jessica sojo regarding sa isyung ito.

  11. When one makes fun of another, and the latter is hurt and humiliated - it is bullying. Like sex and violence, bullying MUST NOT be shown to children. Its broadcast in TV shows, concerts, movies, etc., MUST be restricted.
